Grivel Horn

Accessory created to protect the hand from direct violent contact with the wall and to support the hand itself. To fix it it takes two bolts, and the the ice axe must be equipped with a point with a hole. Indispensable for those who do not use the leash. It can only support the climber's hand, does not have other functions such as belaying yourself or a companion, it is not meant for rope maneuvers either.

The Horn supports the hand, protecting it from violent blows against the wall. It is also a safe and balanced support for the ice axe against ice. The Horn can be detached when a completely free spike is requested. The Horn can be fitted on all Grivel ice axes, even on the earlier models that have a spike with a clip hole. The Horn is a must have for “leashless” climbing. WARNING: The Horn has been designed only as a support for the climber’s hand. It must never be used for belaying either the climber or partner. It must never be used for rope manoeuvres.
