A-Basin Via Ferrata

Kyle and I had the opportunity to test out some great new products recently made available at Neptune. We were selected to test out the new Wildfire 2 and Wildfire Canvas shoes from Salewa at the Arapahoe Basin Via Ferrata. Both models were great for the rocky approach.

When the hike started to get vertical and we started going up the wall I was surprised at how well the Pomoca soles stuck to the rock. The stiffer soles meant that after hours of standing on small rebar rungs our feet still were still going strong. With a good weather window we kept climbing and finally topped out onto the most beautiful alpine meadow.

With stunning views we stayed true to the Italian culture and took a long break filled with Charcuterie and naps. After everyone was well fed and rested we started the long decent back to the base of the East wall.

There was a lot of smearing and edging on the down climb and again the Salewa Wildfires kept us glued to the rock until we made it back to the trailhead.
